Jordan and Algeria meet at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Monday night in a Group J match that amounts to a straight elimination game for both sides. Our Jordan vs Algeria prediction has the full breakdown.
Jordan lost their World Cup debut 3-1 to Austria, while Algeria were beaten 3-0 by Argentina. Both sit on zero points, and the loser here faces almost certain elimination before the final group game.

Jordan head coach Jamal Sellami has one fitness concern. Abdallah Nasib went off during the Austria match with a suspected injury and must be assessed before kick-off.
If he cannot recover, Saed Al Rousan is expected to come in alongside Yazan Al Arab and Mo Abualnadi in the back three.
Beyond that, Sellami has a fully fit squad and is expected to name a side close to the eleven that made history against Austria.
Despite the 3-1 defeat, Jordan showed enough quality to give Sellami confidence in his setup. Ali Olwan scored the nation’s first ever World Cup goal shortly after the break, a cool finish from a counterattack that took his international tally to 29 goals in 66 caps.
He starts again without question. Musa Al-Taamari, the Rennes forward who is Jordan’s primary creative outlet, provides the pace and directness from wide that Algeria’s full-backs will need to handle. Odeh Fakhoury and Al Taamari are the two senior creative outlets in the front three.
Jordan’s 3-4-2-1 system held Austria at 1-1 into the 76th minute before late goals from an own goal and an Arnautovic penalty decided the game.
Captain Ihsan Haddad brings 92 international caps to the defensive setup and anchors the backline.
Wing-backs Mohannad Abu Taha and Ehsan Haddad provide width. Yazeed Abulaila continues in goal. The midfield of Noor Al-Rawabdeh and Nizar Al-Rashdan provides defensive solidity.

Vladimir Petkovic has no injuries or suspensions and is expected to make tactical changes rather than enforced ones after the Argentina defeat.
Algeria came through the 3-0 loss without any fitness concerns, and all three goals against them came from Lionel Messi, which offers some perspective on the scoreline.
The bigger concern was Algeria’s attacking output despite 52 percent possession against Argentina. Their expected goals figure was 0.32, they managed just one shot on target and created zero big chances across 90 minutes.
The most significant selection decision concerns Riyad Mahrez. The Algeria captain and all-time leading scorer with 38 international goals was a surprise omission from the starting XI against Argentina, coming on only midway through the second half.
Petkovic is expected to restore him to the lineup here, with Anis Hadj Moussa the most likely player to make way. Mohamed Amoura, who scored 10 goals in World Cup qualifying and was also introduced from the bench against Argentina, should also start from the beginning here.
Luca Zidane continues in goal. The back four of Ramy Bensebaini, Aissa Mandi, Rayan Ait-Nouri and a right-back provides the defensive base, with Hicham Boudaoui, Nabil Bentaleb and Ibrahim Maza in midfield.
