Newcastle vs Arsenal Prediction

Newcastle and Arsenal will complete a busy Saturday Premier League schedule with a mouth-watering derby in Gameweek 11 at St. James’ Park.

The Magpies can ill afford a defeat after a disappointing 2-2 draw away at Wolves last Saturday.

They are now sixth in the Premier League table, sitting seven points behind second-placed Arsenal and nine points shy of leaders Tottenham.

Eddie Howe has huge problems with the sidelined players as he is still without important first-team regulars Sven Botman, Alexander Isak, Jacob Murphy, and Sandro Tonali, while Harvey Barnes is also nowhere near return to the pitch.

Daunting schedule does not make things any easier for Newcastle who had to face Borussia Dortmund, Wolves, and Manchester United before taking on Arsenal in this Premier League game and Borussia in the reverse tie in the UEFA Champions League.

The visitors were also in action in mid-week, facing West Ham in the last 16 round of the League Cup.

They will, however, go into this in much higher spirits after an easy 5-0 win over the rock-bottomed Sheffield United in the previous round.

Eddie Nketiah was the hat-trick hero for Mikel Arteta’s men as the Spanish manager decided to give rest to some of his first-team regulars, including Martin Odegaard and Gabriel.

The problem for Arsenal ahead of this game is the fact they’ve leaked five goals in the last three away fixtures in all competitions, only one of which they’ve won.

Latest Meetings

Arsenal conquered St. James’ Park in the previous visit, beating Newcastle 2-0 in May this year.

However, the Gunners had previously failed to find the back of the net in two successive matches against the Magpies.

None of the last ten H2H matches between these counterparts saw goals scored at both ends.

The Verdict

Newcastle have won five of the last six home matches, including the successes against Manchester City (League Cup) and PSG (Champions League). They have allowed only two goals in the process.
