Zimbabwe showed signs of resurgence in their second round of group fixtures against Uganda, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw at the end of the ninety minutes.

The latter grabbed an early through Emmanuel Okwi who found the back of the net in the 12th minute after Chigova parried the ball into Okwi’s path following an initial save.

It took another twenty minutes for Sunday Chidzambwa’s side to reply with a goal of their own with Khama Billiat punishing the opposition with a cool finish for leaving him unmarked in the penalty area. The draw has left them on third, trailing behind second-placed Uganda by three points.

DR Congo were dismal in their last game against the hosts Egypt, with the tie ending 2-0 in favor of the latter. Ahmed Elmohamady opened the scoring after the Leopards failed to clear the ball in the penalty area following a delivery into the box.

They succumbed to a second two minutes before the break after Mo Salah was fed with a delightful pass at the edge of the box, which he converted into the back of the net with his weaker foot. With zero wins in their last two matches, DR Congo can slump no further down the group.

Zimbabwe vs DR Congo Head to head (h2h)

  • The squads have met each other on three occasions.
  • Their last encounter finished in a draw at 1-1.
  • DR Congo are yet to register a win against Zimbabwe.
  • Neither of the teams have managed to keep a clean sheet in their head to head meetings.

Zimbabwe vs DR Congo Prediction

DR Congo are likely to wrap up their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a loss as they take on Zimbabwe in the final group clash on Sunday.

Florent Ibenge’s men have not managed to score a single goal in their campaign so far and have been at the receiving end of two goals in each of their previous fixtures. The squad were on target a couple of times in those games but just lacked the precision to beat the goalkeeper every single time.

Zimbabwe lost their opening group clash against Egypt by a slender margin but ensured that they did not meet a similar fate when they took on Uganda in the second round. Chidzambwa’s men certainly fared a lot better than they did in the opening clash and will be looking to up their game a notch further, in their final group tie at the 30 June Stadium.

The squad will be keen on opening the scoring in the first half and are more than certain to take the win at the end of the ninety minutes.
