The new season of Polish Ekstraklasa is about to begin in a two-week time and Wisla Krakow will have the honour of playing French heavyweights Monaco in one of the final tests before the opening Matchday.
On the other hand, this will be the first time the Monegasques hit the court in the pre-season, following the work on fitness they’ve done in the camp in recent days.
Monaco were nowhere near challenging PSG in the battle for the Ligue 1 title last season, but they still managed to beat the likes of Lyon and Olympique Marseille to finish runners-up at the end of the campaign.
Nevertheless, team’s ambitions ahead of the new season are rather questionable after Leonardo Jardim lost more of his key players, including Thomas Lemar, Fabinho and Terence Kongolo.
Monaco’s transfer politics brought them some serious money over the last couple of years, but will they find adequate substitutions to these names before the season kicks off?

Monaco will be without players who have featured the World Cup in Russia here. These include Danijel Subasic, Kamil Glik, Joao Moutinho, Yoeri Tielemans and Radamel Falcao. Wisla should be in their strongest squad here, meaning they clearly see the clash as a huge opportunity to get a result against a high-profile opposition here.
Nonetheless, the hosts did not impress in recent friendlies which saw them lose 2-3 to Czech Karvina before beating the lower-division Puszcza Niepolomice 1-0 six days ago. Even though their players are in a much better physical condition here, we have to go for the quality and back Monaco to come on top at quite attractive odds.
