Walsall vs Coventry
English League One
Date: Saturday, 8 December 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: The Banks’s Stadium (Kingston upon Thames).
Walsall and Coventry shared a similar destiny in the opening 20 rounds of the new League One season. They both got off to bright starts, but only to see their form sliding down rapidly in the last couple of months. Coventry thus lost four and drew two of last six matches across competitions. Such thread is pretty hard to explain if we know they’ve previously been on a run of six consecutive wins in all competitions.
The Sky Blues were not in action last weekend in the FA Cup as they’ve been eliminated earlier just by Walsall (3-2 in mid-October). They never actually recovered from such loss netting just one goal in following four games in the division. The most recent of failures came in late-November when Coventry City fell 3-0 away at Fleetwood Town.
Walsall vs Coventry: Head-to-head
The head to head record speaks in Coventry’s favour though.
The visitors won 9, drew 6 and lost 3 of 18 encounters with the Saddlers.
Last two H2H games saw goal fests (2-2 and 3-2 for Walsall).
Five of last six head to head matches saw goals scored at both ends.
Walsall vs Coventry: Prediction
The Saddlers are also nowhere near their best form at the moment. They won just one of past nine outings across competitions. They did hold Sunderland to back-to-back draws in League One and FA Cup in past two home matches though. Such results could promise success here against Coventry who were just too easy to break down in the last couple of weeks.
The hosts are also anything but meticulous at the back which is why we see the BTTS as a fine betting option at 1.70 odds here. As far as the outcome goes, the value is with the hosts who are 2.80 to beat the Sky Blues for the second time in two months.
