With just one win after three games, Wales are sitting at 4th position in the Group E and they are set to host rock-bottomed Azerbaijan this Friday in Cardiff.

The Dragons, who started off EC Qualifiers with a narrow win over Slovakia, failed to get a single point from next two games on the road against Croatia (1-2) and Hungary (0-1). They are now three behind 2nd-placed Slovak side and they absolutely need to win this game in order to keep their Euro hopes alive.

Azerbaijan are clearly the worst team in this group, and they were beaten by Croatia (1-2), Hungary (1-3) and Slovakia (1-5) to date and I find it hard to believe they can pull an upset on Friday.

The Azeri national team, currently 109th in the world, looked decent in UEFA Nations League against similar-rated teams, but they can’t cope with the big boys, and eight goals conceded at home in June games speak volumes.

Wales vs Azerbaijan: Head to Head

  • They have met six times in the past. Wales are leading the H2H with 5 wins and a draw.
  • Wales have won all three home games against Azeri NT. 1-0, 1-0 and 3-0.
  • Five of the six games had under 2.5 goals.

Wales vs Azerbaijan: Bet Tips

This should be a one-sided affair with Wales dominating the game from the start, even without influential defender Ashley Williams and Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the team.

The Dragons are class above the Azerbaijan team and with Gareth Bale and their young studs, Daniel James and Harry Wilson on fire, I believe they will add something extra to two 1-0 wins they registered in their latest outings in Cardiff, against Trinidad & Tobago and Slovakia.

I can also see them keeping a clean sheet on Friday and thus -1.5 handicap seen to be a good choice for those seeking long odds.

Wales vs Azerbaijan: Bet Tips

  • FT – Wales to win to nil @ 7/10 (1.70)
  • Wales -1.5 handicap @ Evens (2.00).
