Venue: Arena do Grêmio (Porto Alegre).
Both teams experienced similar scorelines in their last games but were on different sides of it though. Major threat Uruguay began with a bang, with a huge win over Ecuador, registering four unanswered goals.
The addition of Luis Suarez to the squad has added to the firepower of their attack, along with PSG front-man Edinson Cavani. Suarez, especially looks much leaner and fit after his knee surgery, and looks ready to be unleashed. In the last match, he proved his worth right away with a sixth-minute assist and a 44th-minute goal.
Cavani too found the back of the net, and smartly took advantage of their extra man on the pitch, as Ecuador was reduced to ten men after a red card early in the tie.
Counterparts Japan had high hopes for their Copa campaign, but their opener against Chile ended in disaster, as the defending champions slotted in four goals in a row. Raising their confidence, even off-form Alexis Sanchez found his scoring touch.
Japan, along with Qatar, has been the Asian presence in this Latin American tournament, but the fortunes of both have varied. The former faces almost imminent exit if they are to lose this game, and will be treating the game as a virtual final.

Uruguay vs Japan Prediction
Uruguay is the most successful team in this competition with 15 titles, while Japan is an invitee from Asia. The latter may be a top dog in their continent, but taking on the heavyweights of Latin America, in their own backyard will prove to be an entirely different story.
The starting itself has been a misstep for the Japanese, with them losing 4-0 to Chile, while Uruguay is riding high on confidence with a 4-0 win over Ecuador. Luis Suarez’s side won their last four fixtures in a row and scored 14 goals from these games while keeping clean sheets in all four.
Japan, on the other hand, was winless in four of their last six match-ups and failed to score in three of their last five.
Coming to their face-to-face encounters, the South Americans won three of the last four clashes, and scored two or more goals in all of the meetings so far.
By all means, the overwhelming favorites are the Uruguayans.
