Turkey vs Russia UEFA Nations League Prediction by LeagueLane

Turkey vs Russia
UEFA Nations League
Date: Friday, 7 September 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK
Venue: Medical Park Stadyumu (Trabzon).

Turkey have seen a very disappointing finish of the World Cup Qualifiers last year and finished five points behind the 2nd placed Croatia in Group I, but Mircea Lucescu’s men have picked it up through their friendlies and now host Russia for their UEFA Nations League clash on the back of a five-game unbeaten streak.

Crescent-Stars have beaten Republic of Ireland and Iran in front of the home crowd and earned three draws on the road along the way, including a 1-1 draw in Russia in early June – which was also their last outing ahead of the home fixture against the rivals – regularly netting numbers of goals along the way.

Russia have, on the other hand, impressed at the World Cup on the wings of the home crowd and made it to the Quarter-finals, only to see an exit in the hands of Croatia on penalties after a thriller 2-2 draw. They’ve beaten Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Spain beforehand and will surely be no easy nut to crack at Medical Park Stadyumu in Trabzon either.

Turkey vs Russia: Head-to-head

The 1-1 draw seen between the sides in June was their second consecutive, after a goalless draw in Turkey back in 2016.

Russia have bagged two wins over the rivals back in 1994 and 1998, making it 2/2/0 in overall records.

We’ve seen just four goals on those four occasions!

Turkey vs Russia: Prediction

We will now back Turkey to build on their solid records of recent and bag their first-ever win over Russia, priced at 13/10 (2.30)

This Turkish side have been great and this would be their third consecutive win in front of the home crowd, which does add to the value despite Russia’s solid World Cup run.

We also believe we’re in for goals this time around, as we’ve seen Russia great in the attacking third lately, where Turkey could have to score an extra goal for the first UEFA Nations League points.

We’ll thus also go for Over 2.5 goals at full-time, which comes at a handsome 7/5 (2.50) odd and also looks more than a lively longshot at this point!
