Tunisia vs Angola
Africa Cup of Nations
Date: Monday 24 June 2019
Kick off at 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: Suez Stadium (Suez).

Tunisia survived a scare in their most recently concluded friendly against Burundi, when they managed to scrape through with a win, courtesy of Naim Sliti’s last gasp decider in stoppage time which saw the match end 2-1.

The team missed out on taking the lead before the break when they were awarded a penalty, which Yassine Meriah failed to convert. Alain Giresse’s men will have to be a lot more alert and a lot less wasteful when they face Angola at the Suez Stadium on Monday in their opening clash of the Africa Cup of Nations, to ensure that they come away with the three points and pave the way to progress past the group stage.

The latter, who are back in the tournament after failing to qualify in its previous two editions, will be heading into the fixture on the back of a comfortable 2-0 win against Guinea Bissau and will be hopeful of clinching their first three points of the campaign.

That, however, will be far from easy with the Tunisians standing in their way with a very good chance of snatching the win right from under their nose.

Tunisia vs Angola Head to head (h2h)

  • Both the teams have met each other on five occasions.
  • Angola are yet to register a win against the Tunisians.
  • Their last fixture ended 3-0 to Tunisia.
  • Tunisia’s highest scoring win came in 2005 when the teams first met and the match ended 4-1.

Tunisia vs Angola Prediction

The Palancas Negras, despite their impressive run of form, are unlikely to walk away with the victory when they lock horns with the Tunisians on Monday in their opening clash of the African Cup of Nations.

Srdjan Vasiljevic’s men are currently without a loss in their last three matches. Apart from the wins, they have also managed to keep clean sheets on two occasions. It’s quite certain that the squad are sound in both attack and defense and are rarely caught sleeping in the ninety minutes.

Their counterparts have been impressing in their recent fixtures as well, managing three out of three wins with one clean sheet in hand. Although their last win against Burundi was narrow and far from convincing, Alain Giresse’s have always fared better when it comes to taking on opponents in the big stage.

The match on Monday is most likely to swing in their favor, although we can count on the Palancas Negras to get on the score sheet as well.
