Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolfsberger AC
UEFA Europa League
Date: Wednesday, 24 February 2021
Kick-Off at 17.00 UK
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London.
Tottenham are all but through to the last 16 round of the UEFA Europa League after netting four goals past Wolfsberger in the first leg of the R32 tie six days ago in Austria.
The reverse fixture, scheduled for Wednesday evening at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, will thus only be a formality as there is no way the Austrians could possibly come back into the tie and bag four goals in English capital.
Jose Mourinho is thus expected to rest his main stars due to well-congested schedule.
Spurs have further complicated their position in the battle for the top-four finish in the Premier League after the weekend’s 2-1 loss to West Ham United. They dropped to the 9th place in the domestic league standings as a consequence.
Spurs are nine points behind the fourth position and desperately need wins over Burnley and Fulham.
Tottenham vs Wolfsberger Head-to-head
- This will only be the second head to head encounter between the two outfits.
- Tottenham confirmed the gulf in quality by netting three early goals last week in Austria.
- Spurs took a 1-4 win at the end thanks to goals from Son Heung-Min, Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura, and Carlos Vinicius.
Tottenham vs Wolfsberger Prediction
Wolfsberger rebounded from the mentioned defeat by beating Sturm Graz 1-2 on the road at the weekend. They broke into the top-five in the Austrian Bundesliga ladder after back-to-back league wins.
However, even their manager Ferdinand Feldhofer is well aware that Tottenham are at least two classes above right now and it will be interesting to see whether he will also give rest to his main players with the league game against Rheindorf Altach in mind.
Carlos Vinicius will certainly lead the line for the Spurs here. Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son will most likely be rested. Vinicus substituted Son at the half time of the first leg on the Austrian soil and managed to score a goal late in the match.
We expect him to bag at least one in the rematch as well and the Brazilian forward is 1.72 to score anytime here.
As for the outcome, we’ll back Tottenham to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end at the odds of 1.80.
