Spartak Trnava vs Anderlecht
UEFA Europa League
Date: Thursday, 20 September 2018
Kick-Off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: City Arena Trnava (Trnava).
Spartak Trnava won their historical inaugural title in the domestic league last term. It earned them a place in the Champions League qualifications where they narrowly fell to Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade after extra-tie in the third round. Nonetheless, they rebounded from such defeat to go past Slovenian champions Olimpija and book a spot in the group phase of Europe’s second tier competition.
However, such European adventure caused a poor kick off to the new domestic campaign for the White Angels. The hosts won just eight points from eight games in Super Liga so far, meaning the dream of the title defense looks to be far away at this stage.
The team is still finding the grip under the new manager Radoslav Latal who is struggling to stay on top of things. His most recent failure came at the weekend when Zilina got away with points from City Arena Trnava beating the White Angels 1-2 on the road.

The two teams did not have the opportunity to meet each other in the past.
Spartak Trnava vs Anderlecht: Prediction
Anderlecht opened the new First Division A campaign in a much more exciting manner. The visitors won four of four at the very beginning of the season. Nevertheless, the well congested and quite complicated schedule gave them back-to-back difficult affairs with champions Club Brugge and Genk on the road.
Hein Vanhaezebrpuck’s side lost them both making it actually three games on the spin without a victory in the top flight of the Belgian football. The clash with Trnava should really provide opportunities for them to return on the winning ways given the hosts are winless in last four league games.
Trnava notched just one goal in the process. They generally ply very tight and we can hardly see them do much to threaten Andrelecht’s goal in their maiden Europa League group stage action.
