Spain vs Bosnia-Herzegovina
Date: Sunday, 18 November 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Estadio de Gran Canaria (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
Spain will end a very turbulent year with a friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Sunday evening at Las Palmas’ venue Estadio de Gran Canaria. Luis Enrique came up with a number of surprises when he announced the squad for this international break.
The former Barcelona and Roma manager recalled Jordi Alba opening Blaugrana’s red-hot man the way to become an important part of La Furia Roja squad once again. Furthermore, he called up the likes of Mario Hermoso, Fablo Fornals and Brais Mendez. When it comes to absences, the likes of Marcos Alonso, Paco Alcacer, Diego Costa, Nacho, Koke and Thiago will all miss out the tie with the Bosnians.
The idea with all the new names in the team is to find replacements for the likes of Gerard Pique, David Silva (who has just retired from the national team), Diego Costa etc. Additionally, the debutants will certainly give their best in this type of matches and it’s exactly what Luis Enrique wants here.
Spain vs Bosnia-Herzegovina: Head-to-head
Bosnia-Herzegovina have never actually been a tricky opposition to La Furia Roja.
Spain won five and drew two of seven head to head encounters between the two sides.
La Furia Roja won three and drew one of four home matches against the Bosnians.
Spain vs Bosnia-Herzegovina: Prediction
The visitors come into November fixtures undefeated in eight straight matches. They have significantly improved their defensive displays under the new manager Robert Prosinecki. They are capable of causing troubles to any team in the world on their day with the likes of Miralem Pjanic and Edin Dzeko in their ranks.
However, we have to mention that Spain head into this as heavy favourites and we’d be very surprised to see the hosts falling for the first time against Bosnians here. La Furia Roja generally played very well under Luis Enrique recently. They enjoyed a thread of three wins on the bounce before the 2-3 defeat to England a month ago.
