South Korea vs Bahrain
AFC Asian Cup.
Date: Tuesday, 22nd January 2019.
Kick-Off at 13:00 UK/ 14:00 CET
Venue: Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium, Dubai.
One of the favorites to win this tournament will face a lucky Bahrain, in the match scheduled on Tuesday.
The Koreans have been brilliant throughout this tournament, winning all their group matches. They dominated their first match in the group against the Philippines with 88% ball possession and numerous shots on target. But they failed to take advantage of these opportunities, otherwise, we would have seen a much bigger scoreline.
The following games against Kyrgyzstan and China was also one-sided with the Taegeuk Warriors dominating the entire 90 minutes. I expect a similar performance against Bahrain on Tuesday.
A last-minute win over India helped Bahrain qualify to this match, by being the best third-placed team. But they improved in each of their group matches exponentially. After drawing with U.A.E. in their group opener, they lost against Thailand. But the narrow win over India may have improved their confidence level. All those group games had fewer than 2.5 goals in total.
The Reds are 113th in the latest FIFA Rankings, but they had to struggle to win against teams below them. Apart from the 3 points against India, they never made any impact on the tournament so far. Most of their attack is centered on the wings, so we may see a lot of crosses against the Koreans.
South Korea is definitely the favorites to qualify into the Quarter-finals, but only time will tell if Bahrain will produce something special.
South Korea vs Bahrain: Head-to-head (h2h)
- They met in 4 previous competitive matches in which the Koreans have won 2 and lost once.
- In 3 of those 4 matches, the final score had over 2.5 goals in total.
South Korea vs Bahrain: Prediction
The Koreans came into this tournament on the back of a good World Cup campaign. Including a win over Germany, they have shown the world what they are capable of when they are on song. With players like Heung-min Son in their squad, we can definitely see some blistering attacking moves. So we can bet on them to win at both half time and full time with 1.85 odds.
Bahrain failed to hit the target against the Philippines and struggled against India too. I don’t see them scoring past a South Korean defense which is yet to concede a goal in this Cup. So we can bet on both teams not scoring with 1.50 odds.
South Korea vs Bahrain: Betting Tips
HT/FT: South Korea/South Korea @ 1.85 (6/7).
Both teams to score: No @ 1.50 (1/2).
