Round 17 of the EFL Championship opens up on Friday evening with a bang. We’ve got the Steel City derby this season and it looks like the stakes are high especially for United.
Sheffield United are fighting for the top this year and that’s more than obvious. The Blades are playing well and despite losing their top spot last round the team is still more than capable of climbing it again. United is one of the most potent sides up front with tons of experience up there. They have the 3rd highest scoring record this year and especially at home things are looking scary.
Sheffield United suffered a loss in its visit to The City Ground against Nottingham Forest. The team didn’t have the best of times and could not create enough chances and had only one shot at goal. Grabban gave the hosts a valuable goal in the second half which eventually proved to be enough for the victory.
Sheffield Wednesday looked like a team that will be challenging for the top half finish this year. Well that’s not exactly the case anymore as the Owls are having a nightmare right now. Wednesday nets defeat after defeat and hardly scores any goals. Luhukay needs to react quickly as things may get even worse with the Steel City Derby looming over. The team needs to bounce back and heading into the local derby may give the required spark.
Last week Wednesday got humiliated at Hillsborough from Norwich City. This was Sheffield’s 4th consecutive loss and not only that but it came home with 4 goals. The things may have been even worse as Vrancic missed a penalty in the 6th minute for Norwich while all the 4 goals came after the break.

Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday: Predictions
United are merciless at home. This may be a derby but as things stand Wednesday can hardly oppose their hosts. The odds for home victory are not that compelling and are dropping significantly. The Blades will be hunting for blood. Playing low odds at such a derby is not advised and with the home side ambition and ability we may back United to win with difference. Considering the sides are often involved in high scoring affairs we may back over 2.5 goals also.
