PSG has had star power for ages. This coming season, however, could be another’s for a youth star developed through its ranks. Senny Mayulu is 19-year-old midfielder who already possesses maturity well beyond his years. Senny Mayulu joined the youth ranks of PSG in 2021 and soon became talked about. By January of 2024, he was with the first team in training with Luis Enrique and netting for senior sides. So swift an ascent caught notice from fans and pundits alike.
Mayulu has vision combined with tactical awareness. He is a central midfielder. He is able to control tempo and drive the ball forward with accuracy. His passing is uncomplicated but fruitful. He recognizes space well and capitalizes on it. At today’s modern game, this skillset is greatly prized.
The 2024/25 season proved to be a breakthrough for Mayulu. He scored his first Ligue 1 goal in October 2024. He also netted his first Champions League goal in a 7-0 victory over Brest in February 2025. These moments show that PSG trusts him on big stages.
Then came the climax. On May 31, 2025, PSG won their first-ever UEFA Champions League title. Mayulu came off the bench and scored the final goal in a 5-0 win over Inter Milan. At just 19 years and 14 days, he became the youngest Frenchman ever to score in a Champions League final. This achievement instantly elevated his profile on the global stage.
He didn’t stop there. In June 2025’s FIFA Club World Cup, he scored again. He became the youngest European to score in that tournament as well. Within a couple of months, Mayulu sealed his spot in history.
As the new season approaches, PSG is undergoing a number of transitions. Stars grow old. Veterans depart. That leaves the door open for new leaders. Mayulu is at the front of the line. He is familiar with the club’s style and expectations. He has been trusted by coaches and teammates.
PSG’s midfield requires new legs and intelligent decisions. Mayulu provides that. He defends, constructs, and is even capable of scoring. This allrounder quality is appropriate for the contemporary game. Additionally, French national team coaches can soon call on him. Increased exposure would accelerate his development.
In 2025/26, PSG will put Mayulu’s readiness to the test. Will he begin major Champions League nights? Can he stand out in home derbies? Will he dominate games when PSG travels? These are important questions.
Opponents will observe him more closely. He has to adapt to space and pressure. This season will test his ability and playing pace. PSG will protect and back him up, however. They want him to become a long-term anchor.
In comparison to other future stars, Mayulu has one advantage: the environment. Most young stars are loaned out. Others get pressured in foreign leagues. Mayulu remains at an elite club that takes care of him. He will get to face giants without having to leave PSG. This stability might unleash his full potential.
Other players such as Warren Zairee Emery also gained praise. But Mayulu’s creativity and clutch goals make him stand out. He is not another prospect. He is the real deal, and he is ready.
French media tend to refer to him as a “junior maestro.” PSG insiders sing his praises for his professionalism. They talk about his calm and strong mentality. Even before the end of the season, coaches noticed him prepared for greater responsibilities.
Goal.com’s top 50 wonderkids included him. He also attracted attention from Ligue 1 analysts following performances in youth competitions. The stage is set for him to prove that hype.
If Mayulu excels next season, he might be PSG’s next midfield sensation. He might also establish himself in the France national team. His playing style—probing passes and serene possession—is ideal for what France usually looks for. He might one day captain France like Paul Pogba or N’Golo Kante.
PSG, in turn, would acquire a generational prospect. They have a habit of purchasing stars for record sums. But Mayulu was free in transfer fees. An in-house star would be priceless. He has potential and loyalty.
The season 2025/26 is a break point for Senny Mayulu. He transitions from promising youth to reality of first team. His Champions League and Club World Cup objectives already justified his worth and he will most likely be part of PSG’s first 11 in their next game against Bayern Munich in Club World Cup quarters.
If he succeeds, he might redefine PSG’s midfield for many years. If he fails, critics will ask him if he is ready. But football tends to reward bold gambles. PSG is wagering on its youth academy. Mayulu might be its crown jewel.
Watch out. The young Frenchman might just ignite the season and forge a legacy few anticipate.
