Senegal vs Algeria
Africa Cup of Nations
Date: Friday, 19 July 2019
Kick-off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: Cairo International Stadium (Cairo).
There is nothing quite like the final of a cup tie, especially when it features two extremely robust teams that were deemed as favorites to lift the trophy, way before the competition even started.
Senegal, who are searching for their maiden African Cup of Nations trophy, come into the finals on the back of a win 1-0 win against Tunisia in the semi-finals. Neither teams got their names on the scoresheet in the ninety minutes, with the only goal of the match coming five minutes into the first half of extra time.
Aliou Cisse’s men were far from their usual impressive self in that game and managed not more than two shots on target from their twelve attempts at goal.
Their counterparts, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their campaign so far and could finish on a high if they can bring their A-game on Friday. Their previous clash with Nigeria in the semi-finals looked poised to extend into extra time with the scores being tied at 1-1 in the dying stages of regulation time.
However, the skipper, Riyadh Mahrez, rose to the occasion to ensure that it didn’t, and found the back of the net in the final minutes of stoppage time.
Senegal’s only loss into the tournament was against this very same opponent. Will they be able to avenge for that defeat in the group stage or will Algeria rub further salt into the foes wounds and walk away with their second Cup of Nations Trophy?

Senegal vs Algeria Prediction
Algeria are likely to come out on top in the finals on Friday when the two teams go head to head against each other for the second time in the Cup.
Senegal have kept a clean sheet in their last three games, and have won by a 1-0 scoreline in each of those ties. The squad have scored eight goals so far in the competition while the Algerians have slotted ten.
Both the sides certainly know their way around in the attacking third and will be looking towards their respective talismans, Riyadh Mahrez and Sadio Mane, to rack up the goals tally.
However, we can expect a very low scoring clash between the two teams considering that they have kept a clean sheet in almost every game that they have played.
We can count on finding the winner by the end of regulation time, with Belmadi’s side likely edge it past their foes by not more than a slender margin.
