Rubin Kazan vs Krasnodar
Russia – Premier League
Date: Sunday, 29 July 2018
Kick-Off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Kazan Arena, Kazan.
Rubin Kazan host Krasnodar on Sunday in the opening round of the new Premier League season. The hosts had a disappointing run in the previous term when they came only 10th at the end of the campaign as the head coach Kurban Berdyev aims for a stronger top-half challenge this time around.
The opening fixture will indeed be a tough one for the hosts who are about to take on an outfit which finished the last season at the high fourth place. The good news for Rubin is, however, that Krasnodar’s huge acquisition, Christian Cueva, will most likely skip the opening Matchday. Both teams have seen some changes to their squad in between the two seasons. Volzhane should be much more dangerous in the final third this year with the arrival of Dmitri Poloz on loan from Zenit. Poloz has been one of the most lethal predators in Russia in the last couple of years and it will be interesting to see if he is to find the right form in Rubin’s shirt.

Krasnodar won 8 and drew 2 of last 10 meetings with Rubin.
Rubin Kazan vs Krasnodar: Prediction
The new head coach Murad Musaev Krasnodar’s strong ambitions ahead of the new season. The Bulls did lose the captain Andreas Granqvist who signed for Helsingborg, but the board signed a host of exciting names this summer. Sao Paulo’s Christian Cueva, who had a vital role in the Peruvian squad at the World Cup, is definitely the biggest name to have arrived in Krasnodar. The former Anderlecht centre-back Uros Spajic came as an alternative to Granqvist.
Krasnodar clinched back-to-back clean sheet wins over Sturm Graz and Orenbug before falling 3-1 to Besiktas in the off-season period. Rubin played the pre-season friendlies in a super tight fashion as none of last five games they played saw more than one goal scored.
We expect the hosts to keep it tight at the back right from the start which is why the Under 2.5 goals FT looks to be a banker bet at the 1.57 odds here. You can also take the Under 0.5 goals in the first half pick at the odds of 2.50.
