Romania vs Lithuania Prediction & Match Preview

Romania vs Lithuania
UEFA Nations League
Date: Saturday, 17 November 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadionul Ilie Oana (Ploiesti).

Romania host the rock-bottomed Lithuania on Saturday evening looking to pick up the victory which would keep them in race for the very top of the standings in Group 4 ahead of last round fixtures on Tuesday.

The hosts come into this as massive favourites as they are unbeaten in four Nations League affairs. They did draw three of these four though, but still showed much more than the last-placed Lithuanians who lost all of their four games so far in the campaign.

The team led by Edgaras Jankauskas suffered the toughest of all defeats in the previous round when they fell 1-4 at home to Montenegro. They thus made it six losses on the bounce in all competitions (if we count friendlies). Lithuania have huge troubles with the efficiency in the final third as they scored no more than four goals in past 11 outings.

Romania vs Lithuania: Head-to-head

The head to head record also suggests an easy job for Romanians here.

Tricolorii won nine from ten head to head affairs against Lithuania.

Romania won each of last three meetings with Lithuanians conceding just once in the process.

Romania vs Lithuania: Prediction

Cosmin Contra will be without Gabriel Tamas in the back line, but it should not be too big of a problem given his men are to play the 129th team in FIFA rankings. Romania will generally come into this unbeaten in last eight matches in all competitions. They got lucky to beat Lithuania when the two teams met a month ago in Vilnius. It was the substitute Alexandru Maxim who bagged the 94th-minute winner to set the final score 1-2 for Romania on the occasion.

However, Contra’s men kept their net untouched in three of last five games they played. They will be highly-motivated to claim the spoils here which is why the home win to nil looks to be the best of betting options.
