Reading vs Bolton Wanderers
English League Championship
Date: Saturday, 18th August 2018
Kick-off at 15:00 UK/ 16:00 CET
Venue: Madejski Stadium (Reading).
Saturday offers us an intriguing fixture. Both Reading and Bolton stayed a bit above the water last year but Reading are the team with the bigger ambitions. Still since the start of the season Bolton are showing better overall play than The Royals.
Wanderers unlike last year started well this time. They have 4 points in their opening 2 fixtures which is a very good achievement for their level. They got kicked out from the Carabao Cup by Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United but that will likely just make their life in the League easier.
Bolton so far took a surprise victory away at West Brom with a late strike. This looked like lucky shot but following second good performance against Bristol City the team looks to be capable this season. The team lost 2 goal lead against The Robins but even the draw is a good achievement against one of the good sides from last year.
Reading fell apart last season following their unsuccessful playoffs. This year despite the promise for change and return to the upper table the team looks in disarray. The Royals have a hard time scoring and the team just looks like its missing something in most areas.
Two straight losses against Derby at home and Nottingham away have sent the team to the 23rd position following the opening 2 rounds just above QPR. The team took 1 victory since the start of the season after all but it came in the Carabao Cup as Reading battled to 2-0 victory over Birmingham City.

- Last 2 games finished as draws – 1-1 and 2-2
- The last victory for Bolton dates back to 2008 when the sides met in the Premier League
- At home reading are unbeaten in 4 games against Bolton winning 2 and drawing 2 including a 7-1 trashing back in 2014
Reading vs Bolton: Predictions
Bolton may be in a good form but away from home last season the team looked really uninspired. The team won just 1 of their away games last season and considering the head to head clashes which are in favour of the hosts we may see turn of tides for the two teams. Reading will fight for their first home victory and despite the bad start the team won’t give up easily.
