Arsenal vs Sevilla Prediction

Arsenal will be looking to terminate a two-loss streak on Wednesday evening in a home clash against Sevilla in the fourth round of happenings in Group B of the UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners’ title ambitions in the domestic league suffer a serious blow on Saturday afternoon in a controversial 0-1 defeat to Newcastle at St. James’ Park.

Knowing they’ve already been eliminated from the League Cup after last week’s 1-3 defeat at West Ham and that they are only fourth in the Premier League standings after 11 rounds, things do not look great for Mikel Arteta and his troops.

Arsenal are atop their respective Champions League group but a potential failure on Wednesday against Sevilla would complicate things drastically for Arteta’s squad in the elite continental competition as well.

The Gunners have two wins and a loss in three Champions League affairs. They’ve managed a bug 2-1 win at Sevilla two weeks ago, courtesy of goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus is once again injured, meaning Arteta will need to rely on Eddie Nketiah who did score a hat-trick in the 5-0 drubbing of Sheffield United in the team’s final league game in October.

Sevilla, on the other side, are still searching for their maiden Champions League win. They have managed just two points in the inaugural three rounds.

They are not pulling up any trees in La Liga either, currently holding the 15th position after a streak of five straight winless affairs.

The latest came on Saturday when Youssef En-Nesyri’s late goal rescued a draw in a road game against Celta Vigo (1-1).

Arsenal have three wins and two losses in the last five meetings with Sevilla with a 13-6 goal difference along the way.

The Gunners bagged eight goals in the last two encounters with Sevilla.

We’ve seen three or more goals in all five H2H outings between these rivals.

The Verdict

Despite recent injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard, Arsenal still possess much more quality in their ranks than Sevilla and we have enough reasons to expect them to pick up an easy win on Wednesday.
