Portugal vs Italy
UEFA Nations League
Date: Monday, 10 September 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Estadio da Luz, Lisbon.
Portugal host Italy in one of the most exciting high-profile clashes on Monday evening at Estadio da Luz. It will mark the UEFA Nations League debut for Selecao das Quinas who will be looking to get off to a victorious start and claim the very top of the standings after Italy and Poland drew 1-1 on the opening day at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
We saw brand new Azzurri on Friday evening under Roberto Mancini. The new boss made some interesting changes giving Mario Balotelli the opportunity to lead the line.
The former Man City striker, who bagged a goal against Saudi Arabia on the return to the national side in May (his first international goal since the one at World Cup 2014 against England).
However, Super Mario could not find the back of the net against the stern Polish defensive line which held on all up until the 78th minute when Chelsea’s Jorginho converted the penalty to cancel Piotr Zielinski’s opener and secure Italy a point in the inaugural fixture of the competition.

Portugal vs Italy: Prediction
Fernando Santos also made plenty of rotations to the side which feature the World Cup in Russia for the friendly against WC runners-up Croatia on Friday.
Cristiano Ronaldo decided to stay and seek for the form at Juventus, while the attacking line as led by new Valencia striker Andre Silva.
Ricardo Quaresma was not called-up either as new names like Pizzi and Ruben Neves were responsible for creating up front alongside Man City’s Bernardo Silva.
Portugal drew 1-1 to Croatia in a match which saw a host of goal-scoring chances at both ends.
Selecao das Quinas generally played open and attacking football recently under Santos (just remember the 3-3 draw to Spain at the World Cup) and we’d not be surprised to see a high-scoring contest here when they host Italy at Luz.
