Paraguay have been tough defensively but they still travel to Tivoli Stadion Tirol in Innsbruck after two disappointing losses, failing to make a top 5 spot in South America with a 0-1 home loss to Venezuela on the final day of the campaign or bounce back in a March friendly against United States (1-0).
They have no high stakes involved but Gustavo Morinigo will surely want to try out options and more fragile players, which promises a motivated outfit as they meet Japan on Tuesday. Samurai Blue come into the match just days after the Friday’s clash against Switzerland but they’ve been far from their best as they prepare for the final tournament in Russia, seeing three losses and just a draw in their last four outings.
Akira Nishino’s men will want to bounce back and obviously lift their team spirits but they’re in for another tough challenge, as Los Guaranies boast a rock-solid defensive record and usually come off as a very tough nut to crack regardless of their recent woes.
