Oxford United are going to take on Manchester City in the 3rd round of the English Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
Home side is not enjoying their start in the League One this season as they are positioned in the relegation zone after being able to book only one victory in nine rounds. They avoided being defeated in just two occasions and with five points on their account, Karl Robinson’s side is two points away from the nearest safe spot.
Although they haven’t been too bad in the front, Oxford United allowed too many goals and their defending is one of the worst in the competition. In the first two rounds of this competition, they’ve been better than Coventry City and Newport County.
The current winners of this competition have been excellent in the previous round of the Premier League as they trashed Cardiff City in a 5-0 away victory. they are two points behind Chelsea while Sergio Aguero and the lads have been the most productive side in the league.
On the other hand, the visitors allowed just three goals so far. They are one of the top favourites for winning all domestic competitions and if they keep up the form, that might become reality. However, there are some serious teams around and Manchester City won’t have an easy task.
This is going to be the first occasion for these two teams to face each other.
Oxford United will have that honour to host the current English champions in their first head to head clash in the history and it is going to be a feast at The Kassam Stadium.
Manchester City are clear favourites in this one although it is very likely that they won’t come out with their strongest squad.
Players that are not in Pep Guardiola’s first plan will have the chance to prove their value to the club and we are expecting that they are going to use it properly.
The visitors have been super-efficient so far and since Oxford United’s defence is leaking we should be able to witness a very efficient clash.
We believe the crowd will be able to enjoy at least four goals in this match.
