Notts County vs Yeovil Town
England – League Two
Date: Friday, 17 August 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Meadow Lane Stadium, Nottingham.
Notts County started the new League Two campaign in a dreadful manner, claiming just one point from the opening two games.
It’s a bitterly disappointing return for a side that featured the promotional play-offs last term as Kevin Nolan and his men will be desperate to pick up their first three-pointer on Friday evening when they host the Glovers in the first game of the third Matchday.
Yeovil’s visit should really give a nice opportunity for the Magpies to grab the spoils and get their campaign on track. The visitors started off with a 1-0 loss to Bury away at Gigg Lane before playing a 2-2 draw to Mansfield Town in a match which saw them make no more than two attempts on target.
Darren Way’s men spent the entire last season in the bottom half and they finished the campaign just two points above the drop zone. If we are to judge by the start to the new season, they are in for a similar destiny this time about as well.
Notts County vs Yeovil Town: Head-to-head
- The Glovers lead the head to head tie by two wins coming into 17th encounter with Notts County.
- However, the Magpies demolished their rivals 4-1 in the previous meeting, back in April this year at Meadow Lane.
- Notts County won two and drew one of last three home clashes with Yeovil Town.
Notts County vs Yeovil Town: Prediction
The Magpies were unlucky to concede a stoppage-time goal and lose the clash to Cambridge United on Saturday away at Abbey Stadium.
Nolan is worried with the form of his main striker Jon Stead and Kane Hemmings who failed to produce in the opening two games.
They certainly made a formidable attacking duo for this level of the competition and they should have space to deliver past the defensive line of Yeovil’s here.
Notts County were generally very tough to beat at home last term when they won 14, drew 7 and lost only 2 of 23 games in the league.
We just have to see them as clear favourites as they also dominated the most recent H2H tie with the Glovers in matches at Meadow Lane (two wins and a draw in last three).
The home win can be regarded as a banker at 1.66, while you can also try with the hosts to bag two or more goals at 1.83.
