North Macedonia begin the new EURO Qualifying campaign on Thursday evening when they host Group C underdogs Malta at Tose Proeski Arena in Skopje.
This is by far the easiest fixture of them all in this group for the hosts who really did not have any luck with the draw.
North Macedonia will need to clinch one of the top two positions past the likes of England, Italy, and Ukraine.
They did stun Italy with a shocking road win in the World Cup Qualification playoffs semifinal before falling to Portugal 2-0 in the final game away in Porto.
We have to praise North Macedonians for the obvious growth in their national team football in the last several years as the team had secured their maiden appearance at a major tournament at EURO 2020.
The team led by Blagoja Milevski did not shine I recent matches, though, as they had a disappointing UEFA Nations League campaign last year.
North Macedonia will go into this off the back of four defeats and a draw in the last five games, a streak that saw them net only two goals in total.
Malta should enter the match in higher spirits after a strong set of results in latest friendlies in September and November last year.
They saw off Israel 2-1 and held Greece to a 2-2 draw before falling only 0-1 to Republic of Ireland in the previous three exhibitions.
It was very interesting to see the visitors replacing the head coach after such a series of results as Malta appointed Michele Marcolini as the new manager at the start of the year.
