This quarter final match has the possibility of being a tasty game and a classic match as these two great nations go head to head for a place in the semi-finals. Nigeria will probably be the favourites to go through, but this match is closer than most people think.
Nigeria got here when they came 2nd in their group, after winning their opening two games, they lost 2-0 to group winners Madagascar but it was enough to ensure they would be playing in the knockout rounds. In the round of 16 they were paired with Cameroon and the game was a thrilling affair which ended 3-2 to Nigeria.
South Africa got to the knockouts and they were very lucky to do so. They actually lost 2 games in their group and got here by being the 4th best 3rd ranked team and only on goal difference it was very close and in other years they could have been flying home.
In the round of 16 they had to play Egypt and they were widely expected to lose this game against the host nation, but they shocked them and overcame all the barriers to win the match 1-0. So, in the end they are quite deserving to be in the last eight.

Nigeria vs South Africa: Prediction
Not only do South Africa have a decent recent record over Nigeria but they also must be respected. Their confidence coming into this game must be good when we think they have knocked out a quality team like Egypt and the hosts.
Nigeria are the slight odds on favourites, and we won’t be taking that when we see how good South Africa have been. They have grown as the tournament has gone on and they are good value odds to win this game and we are going to back them.
