Metz vs Orleans
Coupe de France
Date: Tuesday, 5 February 2019
Kick-Off at 17:30 UK / 18:30 CET
Venue: Stade Saint-Symphorien (Metz).
Ligue 2 rivals Metz and Orleans are set to battle it out for the second time in three weeks as they will play each other for a place in the Coupe de France quarter-final on Tuesday evening at Stade Saint-Symphorien.
Les Grenats head into the game as favourites following an impressive 1-3 victory away at top flight Monaco in the previous round of the competition. Gauthier Hein, Marvin Gakpa and Ibrahima Niane scored goals in the huge victory at Stade Louis II.
Metz are also doing great in Ligue 2 where they are currently three points clear at the top of the standings. They did slip-up on Friday evening playing only a 1-1 draw at home to Troyes, but it would take a miracle for Les Grenats to miss out on the automatic promotion at the end of the season.
They are nine points adrift of the third-placed Lorient after 23 rounds of the competition and they can focus on making a deep cup run as the draw gave them a very much winnable affair here in the last 16 round.
Metz vs Orleans: Head-to-head
These two likes have already played each other twice in this term of Ligue 2.
Metz earned the domestic double over Orleans beating them 5-1 at home and 0-1 on the road this season.
They also battled it out in the third division back in the 2012/13 season when outfits snatched a win apiece.
Metz vs Orleans: Prediction
Orleans sit right in the middle of the Ligue 2 standings halfway through the season. They did not have a serious challenge so far in Coupe de France and Metz will be by far the strongest team they’ll play in this term of the competition.
The visitors look to have improved their defensive displays in recent outings as they kept back-to-back clean sheets against Niort (a 1-0 win) and Paris (a 0-0 draw). Since Metz also shipped only one goal in last three matches in Ligue 2, we have to try with the Under 2.5 goals FT on top of the home win which is the main betting option here.
