Metz vs Lyon
French Ligue 1
Date: Friday 21st February 2020
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stade Saint Symphorien.
Despite some good form over the past couple of months Metz are just 2 points shy of the relegation zone. They are in 15th place and recent form has not gone well as they have gone their past 3 games without a win.
Last weekend they settled for a 0-0 draw at Nantes. But the clubs last win came against Saint Etienne at the beginning of the month.
At home from 12 games they have a 4-4-4 record, won, drawn and lost but their win record only represents just over a 30% win rate and that is why they would be 17th based on home results only.
Metz have 1 defeat in their last four home games although that came in their last game here losing too Bordeaux 2-1.
Lyon have underachieved this season and they are in 11th place with 34 points. It seems that the best they can hope for now is a good run in the last 10 games or so that may give them a Europa League position, but they have certainly gone backwards from last season.
They have no wins in their last 4 games with their last victory coming against Toulouse almost a month ago. Last weekend they dropped more points at home drawing 1-1 with Strasbourg.

Metz vs Lyon Prediction
Lyon have an excellent record over Metz and will start as favourites to beat them. But Lyon seem to have an identity crisis at the moment and are making heavy weather of a games they should be winning with ease.
The clubs away form has seen one win in the last four and they have conceded 6 goals in the last two games which were both defeats, although one of those was against PSG when they lost 4-2.
Metz have much more to offer in this game, and we don’t believe there is much value in a Lyon win, simply put they haven’t been at all convincing this season. So, we will look into different markets.
