Malta vs Kosovo
UEFA Nations League
Date: Saturday, 17 November 2018
Kick-Off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Ta’Qali National Stadium (Ta’Qali).
Kosovo have the pole position coming into November’s final pair of fixtures in the inaugural Nations League season. They are pace-setters in Group 3 with a two-point cushion on the second-placed Azerbaijan.
The team led by Bernard Challandes will have a great opportunity to save the advantage ahead of the final Matchday on Tuesday given they are to play the rock-bottomed Malta on Saturday afternoon at Ta’Qali National Stadium.
The hosts have already lost all hopes of making it to the semi-final after clinching just two points from opening four games. Malta were way too vulnerable at the back for the standards of the group. They conceded eight goals so far in the campaign, at least one in each of four matches. As the matter of fact, Malta did not keep a single clean sheet in last 14 games in all competitions.
Malta vs Kosovo: Head-to-head
Kosovo took a 3-1 victory in their maiden head to head match against Malta.
Benjamin Kololli was the main catalyst for the victory a month ago as he notched a brace on the occasion.
Vedat Muriqi was also on target for Challandes’ squad, while Andrei Aguis bagged the only goal for the Reds.
Malta vs Kosovo: Prediction
The visitors will miss important midfielders Bersant Celina and Bernard Berisha who are both sidelined through injuries. Their biggest star Valon Berisha is, however, expected to make the starting line-up at the center of the park. Vedat Muriqi and Atdhe Nuhiu will lead the line.
Kosovo generally have much more players who earn their bread abroad as most of Malta’s players feature their domestic league. There are just three of them playing outside of the country, including Crawley Town’s Luke Gambin.
The quality is on Kosovo’s side. They have a fantastic opportunity to get just a step away from making it to the semi-final. As you know, League D will also provide one EURO 2020 participant meaning the stake can’t be bigger for Bernard Challandes and his men here.
