Maidstone United vs Oldham
English FA Cup
Date: Saturday, 1 December 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: Gallagher Stadium (Maidstone).
Oldham travel to Kent to take on the National League side Maidstone United for a place in the third round of the FA Cup. Such draw gives a fantastic opportunity for both sides to go so deep in the competition for the first time in a while.
The hosts have been struggling badly for results in the fifth tier of English football so far in the season. They are down in the drop zone holding the 22nd place after 21 rounds in National League. Nevertheless, they did well to make upsets against the likes of Leyton Orient (2-0) and Macclesfield Town (2-1) and keep the FA Cup fairy-tale going. Jack Powell and Blair Turgott were goal-scorers in the comeback victory over League Two strugglers Macclesfield Town three weeks ago in the first round of the FA Cup.

Maidstone United vs Oldham: Prediction
The Latics will enter this as clear form favourites. They climbed up to 13th in the League Two ladder after clinching four points from last two division games against Cambridge United and Tranmere Rovers. Frank Bunn’s men were, however, on the brink of an early FA Cup elimination away at non-league Hampton & Richmond. They were a goal down all up until the 88th minute when Robert Hunt and Callum Lang notched two goals at the death to complete a super late comeback and push the Latics through to the second round.
The visitors scored goals regularly of late and we expect them to do so at Gallagher Stadium as well knowing about Maidstone’s defensive woes. The Stones allowed as many as five goals in a demolishing defeat to Havant & Waterlooville last weekend away from home. Maidstone United kept their net untouched just once in last six games in all competitions. We’ll go for the away win in a high-scoring affair on Saturday.
