Madagascar vs Nigeria
Africa Cup of Nations
Date: Sunday, 30 June 2019
Kick off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Alexandria Stadium (Alexandria).
Nigeria are currently at the helm of the group, having recorded back to back wins in the first two rounds of their group clashes. Their recently concluded fixture against Guinea, saw them edge past the latter by a 1-0 scoreline at the end of the ninety minutes.
Gernot Rohr’s side failed to find the back of the net in the opening forty-five minutes and had to wait twenty minutes after the restart to finally break the deadlock. Kenneth Omeruo soared the highest to meet Moses Simon’s delivery from the corner and guided the ball into the net with his head, to beat Kone at his far post.
The squad finished the match with ten attempts at goal and restricted their opponents from taking more than eight shots of their own.
Madagascar registered a 1-0 win against Burundi in their previous game and will be hoping to recreate a similar result when they take on Nigeria in the final group tie. The team managed three shots on target in the first half of their previous game but failed to break the deadlock on every occasion.
They certainly started the second half on a stronger note and were handed the golden opportunity to go into the lead when the referee pointed to the edge of the penalty box for a free kick in their favor. Marco Ilaimaharita stepped up and fired his squad in front with a peach of a strike, that flew into the left side of the goal.
Nicolas Dupuis’s side are second on the table and are trailing behind their counterparts by two points.

Madagascar vs Nigeria Prediction
Nigeria are likely to make it three wins out of three matches when they take on Madagascar in their final group stage match.
The latter were held to a 2-2 draw against Guinea in their opening fixture while their previous game against Burundi saw them clinching a 1-0 win.
The Nigerians, on the hand, walked away with a clear win against both of those opponents, albeit by a slender margin. They were also successful in keeping a clean sheet in those games, and have been consistent in scoring in the final twenty minutes of regulation time.
We can certainly expect Dupuis’s men to be the ones to taste success in the clash on Sunday. Also, considering that the Nigerians have been solid at the back, we can rule out the chances of the game being a high scoring one.
