Madagascar vs DR Congo
Africa Cup of Nations
Date: Sunday, 7 July 2019
Kick off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Alexandria Stadium (Alexandria).
DR Congo tasted success for the first time in the competition when they managed to thump Zimbabwe by a 4-0 scoreline in their final group fixture. The win was enough to grant them a spot in the round of sixteen, despite finishing third in the table, where they will be facing Madagascar to decide their fate in the Cup.
The win against Zimbabwe was certainly a surprise, given that the Florent Ibenge’s side enjoyed lesser of the ball possession in that game. His squad also made fewer attempts at goal, than their counterparts, but were far more accurate in each of their efforts.
Madagascar are undefeated in their group and topped the table with seven points. Their last fixture against the Nigerians finished 2-0 in their favor, with the squad slotting a goal in each half. The team finished the game with lesser time on the ball but still made the goalkeeper work in three out their seven attempts on goal.
The winners of the tie will book their spot in the quarter-final against the team that comes out on top in the clash between Ghana and Tunisia.

Madagascar vs DR Congo Prediction
The clash between the two sides on Sunday is likely to see Madagascar bag the win against DR Congo.
Nicolas Dupuis’s side have not succumbed to a defeat in the campaign so far, and have two wins and a draw to their name. His men have also scored five goals in the process, while conceding two, and have been recording back to back clean sheets in their last two games.
Although Ibenge’s team will be coming into the clash on the back of a very positive result, their inconsistency in scoring and conceding goals is very visible in their recent fixtures. The squad have just one clean sheet to their name and have gone twice without finding the back of the net in their last three games.
The safe bet is certainly on Madagascar to clinch the win at the end of the ninety minutes. Dupuis’s men have also been consistent in finding a goal after the restart, in all of their last three matches, so expect them to repeat the same as well.
