Venue: Alexandria Stadium (Alexandria).
Burundi succumbed to a defeat in their opening match against Nigeria, by the narrowest of margins, after the game ended 1-0 in favor of the latter.
Despite going into the break with both teams failing to break the deadlock, the second half saw the Nigerians slowly taking control of the game.
Odion Ighalo who was consistently posing threats in the attacking third was fed with a pinpoint pass in the 77th minute of the game, which he shot across the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
Olivier Niyungeko’s side managed six shots on target from their attempted fifteen, but they failed to make it count every single time. His side failed to keep the majority of possession as well, managing just 34% in the entire ninety minutes.
Madagascar, on the other hand, were held to a 2-2 draw in their opening encounter against Guinea at the Alexandria Stadium. The latter took the lead in the first half through Sory Kaba who lofted the ball over the keeper who had rushed off his line and calmly slotted it into an empty net.
Nicolas Dupuis’s side started the second half on a much stronger note with two goals in the first ten minutes but failed to keep their opponents at bay with the latter cutting the deficit in the 66th minute through Francois Kamano.
The squad are now second in the group trailing behind table-toppers Nigeria by two points while their counterparts have hit rock bottom with zero points. Following their clash, the latter will face Guinea in the third round of fixtures, while Dupuis’s men will be locking horns with Nigeria.

Madagascar vs Burundi Prediction
Burundi are likely to taste success when they meet Madagascar in the second round of group fixtures.
Although the latter did put on a good performance in their previous tie, their counterparts look fairly strong enough to hand them their first defeat.
Although Olivier Niyungeko’s team did lose their opening match against Nigeria, they did manage to keep the scoreline under 2.5 goals and that in itself is impressive.
Additionally, despite enjoying lesser time on the ball, they were able to make fifteen attempts on goal. We can surely expect the squad to find the back of the net at least once in their clash on Thursday.
Their opponents will be looking to threaten the Burundi defense through Sory Kaba who managed to score a really impressive goal in their previous outing.
However, their counterparts are bound to hold a much tighter defensive line and will be hoping to edge past Dupuis’s side with a clean sheet.
We can expect both teams to score, but the match is likely to see Burundi taking the win at the end of the ninety minutes.
