Lithuania vs Serbia
UEFA Nations League
Date: Friday, 7 September 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK
Venue: Vilniaus LFF stadionas (Vilnius).
Serbia have opened their World Cup campaign with a great 0-1 win over Costa Rica but went on to suffer narrow losses to Switzerland (1-2) and Brazil (0-2), crashing out of the competition as early as the group stage.
Eagles now open their UEFA Nations League campaign in League C Group 4 with a trip to Lithuania on Friday evening and hope to bounce back quickly, showing off as a tough side on the road once again. They come off as heavy favourites to do so and for a reason, seeing Mladen Krstajic should have no troubles lifting their team spirits.
Lithuania, on the other hand, come into the match amid a rather poor spell of form – where they earned just one draw in four outings, holding Latvia off and beaten by Estonia, Iran, and Poland along the way. They’ve struggled to keep up with the big guns and Serbians will surely hope to show off as a dominant outfit on the day.
Lithuania vs Serbia: Head-to-head
Interestingly, Lithuania have beaten Serbia in their only head-to-head clash at home ground – bagging a 2-1 win back in 2009.
Serbia have outclassed the rivals beforehand, though, bagging a 3-0 home win in 2008.
We’ve seen a total of six goals in the sides’ two matchups so far.
Lithuania vs Serbia: Prediction
Backing Serbia to snatch the important points at Vilnius LFF stadionas indeed feels like more of a banker bet at this point and we’ll go for it heavy at 1.57. They’ve shown they can play at the World Cup and we now expect the visitors to put up a great challenge on the day.
We do feel we’re in for goals once again and we’ll also back Over 2.5 goals FT at 2.15, as we hope for an attacking approach on both ends and an exciting contest overall. Serbia will want a great start in the Nations League and it’s tough to see Lithuanians shooting them down.
