Leicester vs Sheffield United
England – Premier League
Date: Thursday, 16 July 2020
Kick-off at 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: King Power Stadium.
The Foxes have drove themselves into a corner, and with just three fixtures remaining in the competition, their CL entry looks kind of unlikely.
They are currently in possession of the fourth and final CL spot. However, they are level on points with the fifth-placed Manchester United, and are trailing one point behind the third-placed Chelsea. And both these squads have comparatively far easier fixtures this Thursday.
Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers’s men are pitted against the Blades – who are hell-bent on making it to Europe. They are one point below the final European spot, which is currently occupied by Wolves. However, the Wanderers have a tough fixture this game week.
As such, Chris Wilder’s men will be furiously trying for the three points. And keep note that the Foxes will have the same objective – as one more dropped point till the end of the campaign could effectively rule them out of contention for the CL.
On that account, expect one of the best games of the season, as these two line up against each other. Taking into account the desperation of both squads, the pressure they are under, and the form of their frontlines – expect goals from both teams.

- Since 2002, only once have the hosts managed to keep a clean sheet at this ground.
Leicester vs Sheffield United: Prediction
The Foxes lost 4-1 on the road the last match-day, against Bournemouth. The fact that they conceded four goals in a supposedly easier game, against a relegation-battler, highlights the importance of these fixtures in the final phase of the season.
In the meantime, the Blades recorded a 3-0 victory over the in-form Chelsea, at home.
By the looks of things, teams have adapted an attitude of now-or-never. Either of these squads have nothing to lose, and everything to gain, and we can count on them to line up for the match-up with single-minded focus.
It’s easily the most important fixture of the campaign, and pressure is unimaginably high. It’s natural that mistakes are expected in plenty, and as a result, goals as well.
On top of that, games between these two have always been goal-fests. In fact, nine of the previous fourteen overall h2h games had three or more goals, and since 2002, both teams have failed to score at this stadium only once in h2h match-ups.
Likely, expect another goal-fest this Thursday.
