Leicester vs Blackburn
English FA Cup
Date: 28 February 2023, Tuesday
Kick-off at 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
Venue: King Power Stadium (Leicester).
Leicester have had an underwhelming campaign in this term of the Premier League which will only boost up their willingness to succeed in the FA Cup.
We expect a highly-motivated starting XI from Brendan Rodgers on Tuesday evening when the Foxes play host to lower-division Blackburn in the fifth round of the competition.
Leicester have been playing hot and cold since the beginning of the season. Despite the painful 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United nine days ago at Old Trafford, we can say the Foxes are currently on a hot run of form.
Brendan Rodgers’ men have been scoring for fun of late. They bagged four goals in each of the back-to-back league wins over Aston Villa and Tottenham.
We expect them to have plenty of room to deliver on Tuesday past the Championship opposition.
Blackburn have also had a rollercoaster campaign so far in the season but they have managed a streak of eight consecutive outings without a loss across competitions.
The rise in form saw them climb to the fourth position in the Championship standings as head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson can be particularly pleased with the improvements in his team’s defensive showings of late.
Leicester vs Blackburn Head-to-head
- It’s been almost a decade since these two teams last played each other in a competitive affair, back when they battled it out in the Championship.
- Blackburn have a better overall record but Leicester won 14, drew 8, and lost just 6 of the last 28 home meetings with the Riversiders.
- Four of the last five head to head games between these teams saw goals at both ends.
Leicester vs Blackburn Prediction
Blackburn did concede only two goals in the last five Championship matches but they are now up against an in-form top-flight opposition and we can hardly see them keeping hold of the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, James Maddison, or Harvey Barnes on Tuesday.
We will back Leicester to win by two or more goals at the 2.10 odds, as well as Kelechi Iheanacho to score anytime at the 2.50 odds. The Nigerian forward has scored in three of the previous four games across competitions.
