Legia suffered a serious blow to their Champions League ambitions by shockingly falling 1-2 on aggregate to Spartak Trnava in the second qualifying round.

They will have to fix things up in Europa League where they still have a long way to go to reach the group phase.

The Polish champions had luck with the draw which gave them Luxembourg’s F91 Dudelange in the third round.

They obviously come into the tie as massive favorites both on the night and over two legs.

The shocking elimination to Trnava caused the change on the bench for Legia as the Serbian manager Aleksandar Vukovic took charge.

The new manager made an unsuccessful debut when Legia could not break the deadlock past Lechia Gdansk in the third round of Ekstraklasa. However, this weekend’s 3-1 away win at Piast could put the team in a confident mood.

Dudelange offered a pretty strong resistance to Hungarian Mol Vidi in the first qualifying round of Champions League.

Luxembourg’s outfit bagged a goal in each of two games with Vidi, losing only 3-2 on aggregate.

It was a worth result if we know that the Hungarians later went on to eliminate Ludogorets in the second qualifying round.

Dino Toppmoller’s men then saw off Kosovar Drita 3-2 on aggregate in Europa League to reach the third qualifying round which is a massive success for them.

The German manager has, however, reasons to be worried ahead of the Legia game given that his men proved out to be easy to break down against both Mol Vidi and Drita.

Even though Legia struggled with the form so far in the season, the gulf in quality between these two sides is significant and we can bank on no surprised this midweek.
