Kosovo vs Faroe Islands
UEFA Nations League
Date: Monday, 10 September 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadiumi Fadil Vokrri, Prishtina.
Faroe Islands backed up the most recent rise in form with another success on Friday evening when they started the UEFA Nations League campaign in a victorious fashion.
The Scandinavians bagged the maiden three-pointer by beating Malta 3-1 at home and they’ll travel to Prishtina for the second round tie with Kosovo high on confidence aiming to stay at the very top of the group with a positive result at Stadiumi Fadil Vokrri.
Kosovo will, however, represent a much more serious opposition to the one Faroese players had in Malta.
The hosts will also enter the affair in high spirits following the streak of four wins and a draw in last five games.
They are very tough to break down under the Swiss manager Bernard Challandes who managed to guide the team towards the new clean sheet on Friday evening when Kosovo drew 0-0 away at Azerbaijan on the opening day.
Kosovo vs Faroe Islands: Head-to-head
- The two teams played each other once so far.
- It happened in June 2016 when Kosovo took a 2-0 victory on the neutral venue of the PSD Bank Arena in Frankfurt.
- Albert Bunjaku and Elbasan Rashani notched goals for the Kosovar squad who played with ten men from 37th minute back then.
Kosovo vs Faroe Islands: Prediction
We expect Faroe Islands to offer a much stronger resistance this time about following their fine spell of form in the most recent set of fixtures.
Challandes will have to keep a close look on Joan Simun Edmundsson (Arminia Bielefeld) and Hallur Hansson (Horsens) who were both on the scoreline in a 3-1 victory over Malta on Friday.
Moving forward, Faroe Island have significantly improved their defensive performances of late and they shipped just three goals in three of last four away games (we’ll ignore the 5-1 loss to Portugal) even though they played the likes of Switzerland and Hungary in two of these affairs.
Knowing that Kosovo play super tight under Challandes, the Under 2.5 goals FT bet just has to be the way to go. It can be backed at the odds of 1.75. Braver tipsters can shoot for the draw at 3.75.
