Japan vs Chile
Copa America (Group C)
Date: Tuesday, 18 June 2019
Kick-off at 00.00 UK/ 01.00 CET
Venue: Estádio do Morumbi (Sao Paulo).
The presence of Uruguay, along with these two teams, complicate chances to proceed to the next stage from this group. Nothing short of a win will be the desired outcome for both of these two, as things will be harder from here on for sure.
Chile, the two-time defending champion has an opportunity to make it three in a row, and more than that, they are hurt that they were unable to represent the continent in the recently concluded World Cup.
The team had finished level on points with fifth-placed Peru, but their slightly inferior goal difference put them out of contention.
Japan had a great campaign at the Asian Cup and was only undone in the Final, by champions Qatar. Until then the team had a perfect winning record, and all through the knockouts, bar the final, the squad had not even conceded a goal.
Take into account though that the opposition in the Copa America would be a different story. While Asia is a rising power in World Football, teams from Latin America are usual suspects in world stages to lift every single trophy in existence.

Japan vs Chile Prediction
Alexis Sanchez has had a tough career ever since he made the switch to Manchester United, and since then the pacy striker has been going out of limelight bit by bit. It’s a chance for him to once again take center-stage. The sight of him slotting in a Panenka, as the final penalty kick in the final of this same tournament, against Argentina, is still fresh in memory.
Add to this the spirited Arturo Vidal, who has had a hell of a season at Barcelona, and Chile emerges the outright favorite against Japan.
Importantly, despite Japan’s great performances in recent matches, it should be considered that those were against much lighter opponents, whereas Chile will prove to be a different customer.
The fact that Chile has not yet recorded a win against this rival cannot affect this tie, as none of those ties were in major tournaments, and more importantly, those came ten years back.
Count on the defending champions to have a great opener, and to have them a sense of vengeance as well, due to them missing out on the World Cup.
