Jamaica vs Mexico World Cup Qualifiers Prediction by LeagueLane

Jamaica vs Mexico
World Cup Qualification
Date: Friday, 28 January 2022
Kick-off at 00:00 UK / 01:00 CET
Venue: National Stadium Independence Park.

Jamaica has been taking points away from teams that currently occupy direct qualification spots in recent qualifying games. However, nothing but wins are needed to make up for the deficit and seal their spot in Qatar.

Losing their opening two games against Mexico and Panama and the subsequent loss against the USA has certainly been a blow for the team. However, managing just a win and only draws in other games have killed any realistic chances of them challenging for the top two spots.

Following the hard fought draw against the USA in their most recent qualifying game. The team now sits 6th in the 3rd round, seven points behind the play-offs spot.

As a result of losing back to back qualifying games, Mexico has fallen from the spot at the top of the table and is now in jeopardy of dropping out of one of the direct qualification spots.

They were last seen in a 2-1 loss against Canada on the road, following which they now occupy 3rd position in the table.

Having further dropped points just once through a draw, they are level on points with Panama.

Jamaica vs Mexico Head-to-head

  • Mexico has lost just once against this nation in seven previous meetings.
  • Seven of their last eight h2h matches involved a score line of two or fewer goals.

Jamaica vs Mexico Prediction

Reggae Boyz have clearly been nowhere near challenging for a spot in the World Cup. However, they have managed to hold their own in home matches, having lost only the opening match and holding off the USA and Canada to draws.

Their opponents on the other hand have not been dominant in away games with just one of their wins being by a margin of more than a goal. Considering the above I have backed the home team with an Asian handicap.

Just one of El Tri’s previous six away matches across all competition has witnessed a score line of more than two goals. Moreover, with all of their opponents’ previous six qualifying games involving a score line of two or fewer goals, expect a low scoring game.

Jamaica vs Mexico Betting Tips

  • Jamaica (0.5, 1.0) Asian handicap @ 1.92 odds.
  • Under 2.5 goals @ 1.57 odds.
