Zenit will travel to Italy to complete the pre-season schedule with the toughest of fixtures as they are to play Inter Milan on Saturday at Arena Garibaldi – Stadio Romero Anconetani in Pisa.
This will be the last test ahead of the Premier League kick off next weekend. Can Sergei Semak’s men maintain the perfect record and pick up fifth win in five off-season outings here?
It might look as a very tough task on paper, but Zenit will certainly fancy their chances of beating Italian heavyweights here, especially after Nerazzurri disappointed in their second off-season action.
The Italians fell 2-0 to Swiss side Sion on Wednesday even though Luciano Spalletti sent a respectable squad on the pitch for the occasion.
This summer’s acquisitions Radja Nainggolan and Lautaro Ramirez were both in the starting XI, but they highly disappointed and we can expect Mauro Icardi to lead the line here.
The two sides did not have the chance to take on each other in the past.
Zenit showed a fantastic attacking form in their most recent friendlies, bagging as many as ten goals in last three wins over Dinamo Moscow, Grasshopper and Genoa.
Midfielders Magomed Ozdoev and Daler Kuzyaev were scorers alongside striker Sebastian Driussi in the mid-week victory over Genoa.
Knowing that Inter’s defensive line revealed vulnerabilities against Sion, we fancy three or more goals in the match as the main betting option.
Since the Russians started the preparations period much earlier, we would really not be surprised to see them grab the fifth win on the bounce, exactly one week before the start of the Premier League season.
Obviously, Inter have a strong firepower in the final third of their own and they’ll certainly be motivated to rebound from the loss to Sion, meaning the Both Teams To Score is another decent option here.
