India vs Kenya Match Preview
India are the highest scoring team in the competition with 9 goals to their name. Six of those goals came from the boots of Sunil Chhetri. They are also the best defensive unit having conceded just 2 goals so far.
The defeat against the All Whites is India’s first at home since 2016, won 8 and drawn 2 in a 10 match unbeaten run scoring 30 goals to 7 conceded.
Kenya scored 4 unanswered goals against Chinese Taipei in their final group game to go level on points with New Zealand and qualify for the finals on superior goal aggregate and h2h record. The Harambee Stars defeated the All Whites 2-1 in their first group game.
Four of Kenya’s six goals in the competition came from set-pieces, including three in the 4-0 rout of Taipei.
The Harambee Stars have a poor record while playing outside their home land, the win against Taipei their first since 2016, drew 1 and lost 4 in the period.
India vs Kenya head-to-head (h2h), mutual matches
The group clash on 4th June 2018 which ended in a 3-0 win for India is their lone competitive meeting with Kenya.
India vs Kenya Predictions
Evidently, India can be still considered as a strong team in comparison to their opponent. The mishap as in the last game against New Zealand may not be repeated here since Stephen Constantine will bring back all the key players rested against the All Whites. The form of Blue Tigers’ captain Sunil Chhetri needs special mention here as he was on target in all three games so far, including a hat-trick and a double against Chinese Taipei and the group game against Kenya on Monday.
Kenya will be on confidence as well, but I hardly see them getting the better of the home team. Their defense is probably the weakest area which could come under the barrage on Sunday. Moreover, this fringe group of players are yet to come together as a team and have weaknesses in all areas despite scoring four goals against the weakest team in the tournament, Chinese Taipei.
