2018/19 Europa League Play-off (1st Leg)
Date: Thursday 23rd August 2018
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Ghelamco Arena (Ghent).
Gent and Bordeaux should be an interesting game as one of the bigger names are set to miss out on playing Europa League football next season, but who will it be?
As far as the betting is concerned this is a very open market with Gent placed down as the favourites just but they are not odds on and there is a lot of value to be had here.
Both teams are in decent form and at least for Bordeaux they were able to recover from starting their Ligue 1 season with a loss by winning last weekend. It’s very easy to see that both teams share very similar qualities and it could be a touch of magic from the two legs that will separate the teams.
Bordeaux scored 5 goals in the last round as they overcame Mariupol 5-2 on aggregate. As for Gent they sailed through after easily beating Jagiellonia Bialystok 4-1.
Gent v Bordeaux: Head to Head
There are no previous head to head matches between the two sides.
Gent v Bordeaux: Prediction
Gent will be strong at home and Bordeaux despite being a regular team in European football competitions still seem naive even at home, so away from home in a big game this will be difficult for them. At the same time both teams have the same qualities and that is why we will be backing both teams to score as our main bet.
For value we will also try to pick out the correct score at full time. This game could be a dull affair with most of the play confined to the midfield and few chances for both sides.
Gent v Bordeaux: Bet Tips
Both teams to score at 1.91 (10/11)
Correct Score: 1-1 or 2-1 to Gent at 6.00 (5/1) and 8.00 (7/1).
