Zenit Petersburg vs Dinamo Minsk Analysis for Prediction

Zenit suffered one of their most embarrassing defeats in Europe in the visit to Minsk last week. They were 3-0 down by first half and eventually ended up losing 4-0.

Now, the Russians have a mountain to climb and despite boasting a free scoring record at home, I can’t see them getting back to this tie.

The reason for this is due to the stunning scoring form of Dinamo Minsk this season. They defeated Slovakian side Dunajska Streda on 7-2 aggregate in the second round and the win against Zenit took their goal tally to 14 goals from 5 games.

Having netted in 8 of their last 9 away games in Europa League, Dinamo Minsk presents a tall order for Zenit to take anything from this tie.

The Russians might win here, but I do not see them overturning such a massive deficit.

Zenit Petersburg vs Dinamo Minsk Preview

Dinamo Minsk matches the last term’s success by reaching the third qualifying round in Europa League after eliminating the likes of Derry City and DAC.

Going a step further will, however be a very complicated task for them given they’ve been dealt one of the toughest draws for this stage in the likes of Zenit.

Russian heavyweights once again have a star-studded team ready to shine under the new manager Serge Semak.

The former Ufa head coach began the new season in the domestic league with two clean sheet wins in opening two rounds against Yenisey and Arsenal Tula.

The man who stole the show at the recently finished World Cup in Russia, Artem Dzyuba, seems ready to guide the Lions towards the domestic title.

Dzyuba started the season in a decent fashion, playing a big role up in the final third. He will no doubt be the main threat to Dinamo’s goal over two legs here.
