Deportivo Cuenca vs Jorge Wilstermann
Copa Sudamericana
Date: Thursday, 19 July 2018
Kick-Off at 23:30 UK
Venue: Estadio Alejandro Serrano Aguilar (Cuenca).
Ecuadorian side Deportivo Cuenca are going to face Jorge Wilstermann in the Round of 16 of Copa Sudamericana. The hosts managed to catch up the advantage of their rivals in the previous round and after being 2-0 down in the first leg, they managed to snatch the victory after the penalty shootout.
However, in the recently finished Ecuadorian Apertura, they haven’t been too successful as they finished in the bottom half of the table. Thanks of a good finish of the campaign they managed to avoid being hammered to the bottom of the table.
Richard Paez’s side has troubles in defending their net and they have conceded 33 times in the Ecuadorian Serie A.
On the other hand, Jorge Wilstermann had a successful campaign as they managed to lift the trophy in Bolivian Apertura. They celebrated the victory against The Strongest in front of the home crowd and crowned a very good season.
The visitors were the best team in the group stage, while Gilbert Alvarez and the lads were clinical in front of the oppositions’ goal. Their defending was pretty solid as they conceded only 13 times in 14 matches.
These two sides didn’t have the chance to face each other so far and this is going to be their first head to head clash.
Although Bolivian sides are not well-known as good away-performers, in this one they could be able to get back home with a victory. Deportivo Cuenca are not playing very well this season and the visitors should be able of taking advantage of that fact.
Since the hosts are not too good in the back, while on the other hand, Jorge Wilstermann are very productive, we could easily see this clash going above 2.5 margin. We are expecting to see an efficient clash and the crowd should enjoy it.
