Den Haag vs Feyenoord
Date: Sunday, 23 December 2018
Kick-Off at 13:30 UK / 14:30 CET
Venue: Cars Jeans Stadion (Den Haag).
Feyenoord shockingly ended a six-win streak with a 0-2 defeat at home to the bottom-half likes of Fortuna Sittard last weekend. They will be hoping to bounce back on Sunday afternoon in the last game of the year as they travel to Den Haag to take on ADO in 17th round of the competition.
The visitors head into the match as clear favourites in spite of the mentioned defeat on the previous Matchday. They saw off reigning champions and runaway leaders PSV 2-1 at home before bagging four goals past VVV and Emmen each prior to the loss to strugglers Fortuna. The Pride of the South also improved their performances on the road significantly of late. They won last two away fixtures against Heracles (0-2) and Emmen (1-4). Can Giovanni van Brockhorst’s men rebound return to the winning ways on Sunday against Den Haag?
Den Haag vs Feyenoord: Head-to-head
Feyenoord were the dominant force in the history of head to head matches with the Hague.
The two teams have already played each other this season as the Pride of the South took a demolishing 5-1 victory in the second round of KNVB Beker in early-November.
Feyenoord took four points from last term H2H games with the Hague (3-1 and 2-2).
Each of last three H2H games saw goals scored at both ends and as many as four goals scored at least.
Den Haag vs Feyenoord: Prediction
Den Haag moved on to 11th place in the league standings after a 0-3 victory over Willem II last Friday. They have generally been enjoying a solid spell of form lately with two wins, a draw and a defeat (to Ajax) in last four league affairs.
However, we have to say the Hague found goals hard to come by in home outings so far in the campaign. Alfons Groenendijk’s side notched only 6 goals in 7 home fixtures so far in the season. They failed to score more than two goals in last five matches at Cars Jeans Stadion.
The quality is on Feyenoord’s side and we expect them to snatch a three-pointer and try to take advantage of potential slip-ups from PSV or Ajax who have tough rivals this weekend.
