Copenhagen’s dominance in Danish football was ended in a very cruel manner as the Lions finished the season as many as 27 points shy of champions Midtjylland in fourth place.
It was, however, enough for Stale Solbakken’s men to secure the Europa League qualifications. They will begin the European adventure on Thursday visiting neighbouring Finland for the first leg clash with KuPS.
The Danes will be tested by the Russian Premier League runners-up CSKA Moscow before the first official game of the new season. The two teams are currently located in the Austrian football camp in Dietersdorf.
CSKA will certainly provide a very strong check for Copenhagen even though Armeitsy will be without some first team regulars who are still at the World Cup thanks to a magnificent run the Russians made, reaching the quarterfinal.
