The Stamford Bridge will take a leave from the Premier League fixtures on Thursday to put together the host with Barnsley in the middle. And after the 0-2 loss at home in the last PL clash in their schedule, Chelsea will need something to bounce back into their game.
Apart from their 1-3 win on the road in their opening PL match this season with Brighton, the Blues have won none of their last five clashes across all major competitions. Frank Lampard will have a slightly easy job in picking up his team from the loss since they are facing a Championship side.
Barnsley nearly reached the bottom of the Championship table last season at the 21st spot. Two of their recent three matches across major contests in the schedule have ended in a defeat. They will visit after a 2-0 loss on the road against Reading in their last Championship fixture.
Chelsea enjoys the home ground advantage in the game. With just two losses in their last ten home matches, they pose a huge threat for the visitors. Besides, five of their last six wins at home came along with a clean sheet in each.
There is no doubt that the match is sizing into a high-scoring affair at Stamford. Having a persuasive attack will give a slight edge for the Blues, which is why the tip for over 2.5 goals will probably be the best bet for the punters.
In the meantime, Barnsley has been facing troubles in the middle recently in their schedule. With their poor away form, it will be hard for the Tykes to hold their defense against a top tier side. The tip for Chelsea to win with a -1 handicap will probably be a suitable option in the encounter.
