Cagliari vs Chievo
Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday 28 October 2018
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Sardegna Arena (Cagliari).
Cagliari have a good opportunity to move a bit away from the drop zone as they take on bottom ranked Chievo. The Flying Donkeys have been hardly flying this season and after seasons of managing to scrape by and stay afloat, things have finally caught up with them.
A combination of dodgy accounting and bad performances have left them in 20th place, and although they were fortunate not to be hit with an even worse deduction, it means little as they have yet to win a game this season.
Firing Lorenzo D’Anna and hiring Giampiero Ventura – the man who failed to steer Italy to their first World Cup since 1958 – shows how desperate Chievo are to try to turn things around. Nine points adrift of safety and having conceded a whopping 24 goals already, things don’t seem to be getting better any time soon for the Flying Donkeys.
They come into this game having lost 5-1 to an Atalanta side who have been hardly impressive themselves, but took out their frustration on Chievo last weekend and Cagliari will be hoping to be the latest side to pick them off as they welcome them to the Sardegna Arena on Sunday.
Cagliari come into this game having earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Fiorentina last weekend and before that they beat Bologna 2-0. Whilst the Sardinians have their own issues, they are not expected to be troubled much especially with Chievo in the dismal form they are in at the moment.

Cagliari vs Chievo: Prediction
Once upon a time, Chievo were the dominant side in this head to head fixture, and in fact, they had won six of their last seven meetings with Cagliari across all comps. The tide is set to change this Sunday, as the Sardinians will finally get a chance to end that hoodoo.
Chievo have lost their last five games and are looking set to make it a sixth straight loss, as their hosts have been solid at home and won’t want to miss this great chance to add three vital points to the bank.
