Bulgaria vs Slovenia
UEFA Nations League
Date: Monday, 19 November 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadion Vasil Levski (Sofia).
Slovenia are definitely of the biggest disappointments of the maiden UEFA Nations League campaign. They got close to qualifying for a major tournament on several occasions in the last decade and UEFA’s new competition gave them a nice chance to make it to EURO 2020 through League C.
Nevertheless, Slovenians won just one point from four games so far. They sit at the very foot of the Group 3 standings as a result and will had into the last round fixture against Bulgaria without any hopes of topping the group and making it to the semi-finals.
The story is completely opposite with the hosts who entered November’s final two fixtures lock on points with Norway and the top of the standings.
Bulgaria vs Slovenia: Head-to-head
The head to head record also entirely favours Bulgaria who won all of three games against Slovenians so far.
The Lions took home and away wins over Slovenia back in 2006 and 2007 within European Championship Qualifications.
It was Midtjylland’s attacking midfielder Bozhidar Kraev who made the difference by completing a brace when these two likes met each other in September at Stozice (1-2 win for Bulgaria).
Bulgaria vs Slovenia: Prediction
The Lions picked up three wins in opening four outings. They were on a thread of four consecutive victories before falling narrowly 1-0 away against Norway a month ago. Petar Hubchev uses a very interesting 3-4-2-1 formation which obviously suits Bulgarians who did not concede two or more goals in any of last nine games in all competitions.
Knowing that Slovenians struggled for goals recently, we have to see the value in backing the hosts to keep a clean sheet here. Slovenia lost five of last seven games heading into November’s affairs, hence Bulgaria are heavy favourites to claim the spoils based on everything written above and the home win has to be our op betting suggestion here.
